Karnataka Bank Ltd

iDEAL has helped in streamlining our regulatory XBRL & Non-XBRL instance generation/reporting process, enhancing efficiency and reducing the time investment required. We especially appreciate its intuitive interface, which has greatly simplified the training of our team members. The reports generated are consistent wherever sample evaluated and giving us confidence in our ability to meet regulatory requirements/changes incorporated in CIMS production. Additionally, the prompt support for any issues or queries (i.e. business validations) has been a notable strength of the application.

The support we’ve received, especially during crucial Submission periods, has been satisfactory from every angle.

About The Reserve Bank of India

  • What
  • From whom
  • When

The RBI collects various fixed format data (called ‘returns’) under the Reserve Bank of India Act 1934, Banking Regulation Act 1949, Foreign Exchange Management Act 1999 as part of the regulatory and supervisory functions.

Overwhelming Data Volumes

Following entities need to report under Online Reporting

  • Banks
  • Financial institutions
  • Authorized dealers
  • Non- banking financial institutions

Submission frequency of these returns may be daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annual.

The Mandate

More than a decade ago, in 2008, the RBI introduced eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL)-based reporting into its already existing Online Return Filing System (ORFS) and since then they have progressively elaborated the mandate to cover other departments of RBI and their reporting needs.

Last year, RBI introduced the Database on Indian Economy (DBIE) and the Centralized Information Management System (CIMS) to modernize and automate data reporting for Financial Institutions (FIs) and regulated entities.
